The warm weather it creeping up on us and it’s that time you want to possibly stain your set. Well don’t go running out to purchase just any old stain! He highly recommend you use Super Deck Semi Transparent Stain – If you have a Rainbow Play set you will want to use the pigment color Redwood. You can use any pigment color you like but Redwood is the one that best matches what was initially on your set. Even if you don’t have a Rainbow we suggest you use this stain! It’s a one coat application and goes on pretty easy. There is some deck stains out there that we have seen folks use that ruins the play sets- Seriously it’s like a latex paint and it ends up trapping water inside the wood making your set rot from the inside out- Yikes not one wants that.
You can find this stain at Sherwin Williams it’s approx. $53/gallon and most sets will only need one gallon.
Take a look at your set to make sure everything looks ok and you may even have to tighten the bolts. Wood shrinks and expands with the weather and if you see that your swing hangers are loose it’s because the wood has shrunk- don’t fret just tighten up those bolts and you won’t have to do it again.
When in doubt give us a call and we are more than happy to guide you in maintaining your play set.
